Chronic Stress

Stress is a normal part of everyday life and our bodies are designed to deal with it.  When situations or events put us under pressure our bodies respond by producing stress hormones that support us to take action to alleviate the threat.  In the short term, that’s a good thing, but when stress is ongoing and stress hormones remain elevated, they can have a negative impact on our health and weight.

When stress hormones are not properly regulated, you may feel more prone to mood swings when stress levels mount.

Craving salty or sweet foods is not uncommon and you may experience decreased energy, low libido, increased PMS/menopausal symptoms, constipation, a weakened immune system, and not feeling fully rested after a night of sleep.

Stress hormones raise blood sugar which in ten will have an impact on blood insulin levels.  In the long term, this will contribute to insulin resistance and weight gain.
